Vernie Reed, General Secretary-Treasurer of LIUNA. Through the generosity of Brother Reed's friends and associates, a self-perpetuating fund will provide a program of yearly scholarships to assist eligible worthy students and members in good standing in furthering their education. The first award was made in the spring of 1981. Scholarships are usually awarded before July. The LIUNA Northwest Region includes all Local Unions located throughout Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, Alaska, and Montana as well as four provinces of Western Canada including British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, the Northwest, Yukon and Nunavut territories.
