Stewards Info
LIUNA Local 737 is excited to continue our steward training program! This is an internal organizing effort launched by the Oregon and Southern Idaho District Council of Laborers and Local 737 to improve membership representation in our organization and on the worksite.
Stewards really are the backbone of any union. Stewards are the representatives of our union on worksites, and are often the first point of contact between a member and their union. Participating in this training is not only your first step in becoming a steward, but it is also a major step in our union's collective commitment to fighting for our members' interests.
If you would like to attend this training to learn more about our steward program, please fill in the information below. You will then receive an email with instructions for how to sign on to our virtual call platform (RingCentral, very similar to Zoom). You will need a computer or smartphone to sign into this training. The training will be a mix of instruction, group activities on grievance identification, and contract overview. Even if you aren't sure if you want to be a steward, this training is a great opportunity to learn more about how our union functions. Please encourage other members to sign up on this form and to attend the training!
Stewards Info
Below are links to manuals and forms that are pertinent to your role as a Steward to your local union. You represent our members on the job and are the first line of defense to any contract issues or grievances that may be brought up on the job. You are also the pipeline of information from the Union to the members, and the members back to the Union.
Use your Business Representative in your area to help you be successful in your position and to elevate issues you may encounter on the job.
