LIUNA. Built by Immigrants. Fighting for All Workers.

temp-post-image

LIUNA was founded in 1903 by immigrant workers who believed that every worker that labors with dignity deserves fair treatment, safe conditions, and a voice on the job. That promise still guides us and remains our foundation today.

We are a union of over 530,000 workers, immigrants and U.S.born alike, who build and serve this country every day. Our message is simple: immigrant rights are worker rights. When workers are exploited or silenced, standards fall for everyone.

FOR OUR MEMBERS AND FAMILIES

If you or someone you know is affected by enforcement or program changes:

  • Reach out to your Union. We may be able to connect you with trusted resources and Know Your Rights trainings.

  • Stay informed. We will continue to share updates and resources through our locals, district councils, Regional offices and social media accounts.

  • Share your story. Your experiences show the real face of working America and help strengthen our fight for fairness

OUR COMMITMENT

From our founding, LIUNA’s Constitution has called us “to unite under its banner all persons engaged in work within its jurisdiction.” Just as the immigrant workers who once built this union, today LIUNA fights to ensure that all who build, clean, care for, and serve our nation, can do so with safety, dignity, and respect.

OUR CORE PRINCIPLES

LIUNA’s immigration agenda is rooted in growth, solidarity, and justice. All working people, regardless of where they were born, deserve protection, respect, and a fair chance to thrive.

Our immigration principles reflect the current environment and the values LIUNA stands by:

  • A strong and humane border enforcement.

  • A path to citizenship.

  • No new or expanded guest worker program.

  • We reject policies that effectively deauthorize workers and strip them of their legal status.

  • Immigrant rights are worker rights.

  • Penalize exploitative employers, not workers.

  • Division is our enemy.

  • Uphold constitutional rights, including due process.
