Oregon and Southern Idaho District Council of Laborers (OSIDCL) is hiring a Political Organizer.


We are seeking a self-motivated and staunch advocate for the Union membership and working families.The Political Organizer will be responsible for supporting political and legislative priorities of the OSIDCL and its affiliated Local Unions. These priorities focus on enacting and supporting worker friendly public policies at both the State and Local levels of government.

Additional responsibilities include leading the Union’s electoral campaign work. This involves member engagement and mobilizing in support of strategic pro-worker electoral priorities and candidates and building Laborer power at the ballot box.

The work entails support for private and public sector members of our Union. Intermittent travel will be required within the jurisdiction of the ODISCL and to conferences and training courses as needed. Workers’ rights to organize and bargain; protecting and expanding requirements related to prevailing wage, health and safety, and equity are amongst our highest priorities.

This is a full-time salaried position with paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Employer also provides family
medical, dental and vision benefits, as well as a generous retirement plan. The salary range is $85,000-$115,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications and skills
● At least two years of experience working for a labor union, community organization, political group, or
other progressive, member-oriented organization
● Other labor union experience is highly valued
● Ability to clearly communicate with people and organizations both verbally and in writing. This
includes communication with rank-and-file members, public officials and community partners.
● Ability to help prepare publications, press releases, and social media posts for public outreach and
member mobilization
● Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle many projects simultaneously
● Must possess a valid drivers’ license and be insurable under the employer’s policy.
